Project Manager – Main Contract

An opportunity to work for one of the UK’s leading design, manufacture and fit-out contractors. The company has a reputation for innovation and quality by design. Market Leaders in store development they boast many of the UK’s major retailers as clients such as M&S, Primark and Boots, and more recently, the firm has expanded its reach from retail to the commercial & education industry. I. Job Summary: The role requires the individual to be responsible for the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of the business through the provision of key management strategies prepared by the Managing Director. A. Duties and Responsibilities: • Obtain project briefs from clients and provide verification of the brief, the timescales, costing and develop the ‘delivery team’ to ensure successful implementation. • Project Planning & Programming – responsibility for the planning, programming and phasing of projects in conjunction with our client’s requirements. • Provide effective management of the ‘delivery team’ including operational, commercial and site-based resource. • Manage the day-to-day labour requirements of your projects in conjunction with our in-house labour agency/sub-contractors ensuring that labour skill levels align with work streams. • Ensure H & S requirements including CDM 2015 and sub-contractors RAMS are in place prior to commencement of our projects, working closely with the HSQEM Manager. • Provide support in the effective management of our Agency KPI’s, sub-contractor KPI’s and labour only KPI’s in conjunction with our Operational team. • Ensure that the company ISO Procedures are followed at all times and play an active role in their continuous improvement. Assist in improving procurement planning in conjunction with our Commercial Manager and UK Procurement Manager. • Ensure that all sites are set-up correctly in line with the latest H & S legislation and ensure that all Site Managers under your control have been fully briefed and clearly understand our obligations to our clients and the project brief/scope of works. • Assist in improving the efficiency of delivery through improved planning, visibility and control. • Manage site-based training requirements in conjunction with the HSQEM. • Assist in the commercial management of our projects, working closely with our Commercial team. • Ensure that Variations to Contract are accurately identified and reported back into the Commercial QS to ensure recovery through our Applications for Payment and sales invoices. • Ensure project procurement is managed effectively, working closely with our Commercial QS. Mainly Domestic with some international and national travel. II. Experience: Minimum Required: • Previous experience of a similar role required. • Experience of previous major fit-out and sub-contract works. • Excellent planning, programming and delivery skills • Excellent organisational skills. • Excellent attention to detail. • Interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) are essential. III. Education/Qualifications/Certifications and Licenses • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of managing major fit-out projects. • NVQ Level 6 (working towards NVQ Level 7) • SMSTS • Trade qualification (desirable but not necessary)
